Recently, our team at Dongsheng Carpet successfully delivered a landmark international flooring project for the prestigious Masjid Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah, located within the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) Kuantan Campus. Officially inaugurated on Thursday, May 11, 2012, by the Sultan who serves as the constitutional head of the university, this magnificent mosque stands as a profound spiritual and architectural beacon for both the academic community and the general public.

Strategic Location & Architectural Harmony

Nestled amidst picturesque, tranquil lakes, the IIUM Kuantan Campus mosque enjoys a uniquely privileged geographical position. It is positioned side-by-side with SASMEC @IIUM (the university hospital) and the main artery of Jalan Sultan Ahmad Shah. Because of this optimal placement, the IIUM academic community, healthcare staff, and local citizens can conveniently access the mosque for daily prayers and the various community services it provides. To match this serene yet heavily frequented environment, the interior flooring required a design that balances aesthetic dignity with high-performance resilience.

Cultural Integration & Custom Grey-Green Design Concept

In selecting and developing the carpet pattern, our design and technical teams engaged in deep, careful conceptualization. Every single motif detail was tailored to seamlessly incorporate rich Islamic cultural elements and distinct regional characteristics. To complement the mosque’s overarching interior decoration style—defined by warm wood tones and solemn architectural finishes—we established a calming and dignified grey-green color palette. This sophisticated tone creates an atmosphere of inner peace and focused tranquility for worshippers during congregational prayers.

High-Density 1200g Nylon Printed Carpet: Engineered for Performance

Spanning a total area of 3,068 square meters, the project utilized our premium 1200g nylon printed broadloom carpet. Specifically built for heavy-traffic public spaces, this high-density nylon construction delivers superior crush resistance, long-lasting texture retention, and exceptional ease of maintenance. The advanced chromojet printing technology ensures that the intricate cultural patterns feature vibrant, fade-resistant color gradations that will endure years of continuous foot traffic.

Precision On-Site Alignment & Rapid Execution

A project of this scale presented rigorous technical challenges. From precise initial dimensions to complex horizontal and vertical pattern matching (cross-seam alignment), our engineering department coordinated closely with the site supervisors through multiple rounds of technical docking. Mosque layouts require absolute geometric precision to maintain continuous prayer lines (safs) across seams. Through meticulous pre-planning and manufacturing excellence, our team achieved a flawless final pattern layout.

Thanks to our streamlined factory workflows and dedicated project management, the entire 3,068 sqm carpet batch was completed within just 5 days of production, followed by a swift 2-day on-site installation. This remarkable turnaround time and flawless installation quality earned high praise and official recognition from the project client and institutional leadership.
